What Does it Mean to be Dead to Sin?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE DEAD TO SIN?

Romans  6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

It is not perfection in knowledge, freedom from mistake in judgment, is not freedom from temptation, is not freedom from sicknesses, is not freedom from ignorantly offending God, is not freedom from spiritual warfare etc

The DEADNESS referred in this Bible passage actually means DELIVERANCE from the power of sin. You will discovered that Paul called it “SIN” and not “SINS”. Dead to sin means deliverance from the power of sin, passion to sin, nature of sin, dominion of sin, desire to sin, wanting to sin. The singular word ” sin” signified the sinful nature in every natural man, it means the sinful depraved nature in man, it means sinful adamic nature in man, it is the root and seed of sins, the root that produces sins. Believers deadness  to sin actually becomes possible through the divine experience of heart circumcision, heart purging, heart sanctification, possession of new heart, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

When Believers becomes dead to sin, it means sin will never have dominion over them. It means they can not continue in sin. It means they cannot willfully sin against God. It means they cannot consciously do evil against God. It means they will not love sin. It means they will have grace to hate sin. It means they have died with Christ an resurrected with divine Christlike nature.

Therefore he that is dead is freed from sin, because he is not under the enslavement, control, law, power, influence, desire, want, and affection of sin.

John  8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin
