ARE YOU EASILY DISCOURAGED?

‘And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them’ Judges 8:4

Discouragement according to the dictionary is simply defined as a loss of confidence or enthusiasm.

In the bible text above, God, through Gideon chose among the Israelites three hundred men through whom the Midianites were defeated. It got to a point that the men were wearied, exchausted and tired to the point of getting faint but still were not discouraged. They were determined to achieve God’s purpose for them in defeating the enemies of the Israelites.

Open Heavens 4 March 2017: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Is Jesus in Your Boat?

Topic: Is Jesus in Your Boat? [Saturday 4, March 2017]

Memorise: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. – Proverbs 3:5

Read: Matthew 8:23-27, Psalm 37:3-5 (KJV)

23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Psalm 37:3-5

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 32-33, Isaiah 49:24-50:11

MESSAGE:

Have you ever been on a journey and the opposition against your progress was so intense that you felt you would never get to your destination? If you answer is yes, then know that you are not alone. Life is like embarking on a journey to a destination. Every trip has its obstacles and hurdles. While on a journey, the disciples of Jesus once found themselves in this kind of tough situation. It was so bad that they felt their boat was going to sink. In fact, water was already entering their boat, and going by all they saw, it appeared nothing could be done. If you are facing a similar situation today, simply make this confession to yourself: my boat cannot sink, I shall reach my goal and nothing can stop my trip!

Many Christians today are suffering needlessly because they have imbibed a doctrine that does not include the help of experts. Except you have a direct word from God, always go with the best expert opinion you can find while you are praying. God has always allowed men to ride on expertise in different fields to help other men. Once it is not an occultic or a demonic expertise, it is a provision that God’s mercy has allowed.

DCLM Daily Manna March 4, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Don’t Put Your Trust in Man

Topic: Don’t Put Your Trust in Man [Saturday March 4, 2017]

Text: Isaiah 31:1-9

Key Verse: “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!” (Isaiah 31:1).

There are few things that make it irresistible for people to repose their trust and confidence in man. Many powerful men overstate their net-worth and, therefore, appear more attractive than they actually are. Also, they are visible and sometimes, easily accessible. When they lay down conditions, they are physical and easy for men to understand and fulfill. In the end, men would always be men, with their weaknesses. Trusting them invariably ends in disappointment. In our text, the children of Israel incurred God’s wrath for turning to Egypt for help, instead of seeking God.

Daily Manna Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi 03 March, 2017

Daily Manna

FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2017

TOPIC: LEARN FROM MISTAKES

TEXT: EZEKIEL 23:22-36

Key Verse

“Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side” (Ezekiel 23:22).

Many times, what get people into trouble are not big, but little things. They omit to do what is right. They indulge in little careless or reckless acts, including those they knew spelt disaster for other people. With the passage of time, they become self-confident in their ability to tackle issues their own way. They dismiss pointers in their own lives, to things that caused misfortune for others, on the hollow belief that, ‘it cannot happen to me’. In the process, they seal their own misfortune.

WHAT DOES YOUR PASTOR PREACH?

WHAT DOES YOUR PASTOR PREACH?

Is it holiness? righteaousness? healing? faith? success? leadership? or prosperity?

Whatever anyone is called to preach, God’s general message is simple: ‘make my people ready for my coming’

Many servants of God have deviated, many are so carried away by the blessings that followed the ministry that they don’t even remember heaven at all, talkless of teaching it to their congregation. All they talk about is power! prosperity! possessions! so they end up raising a highly materialistic congregation.

Daily Manna Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi 02 March, 2017

*DAILY MANNA*
_Thursday 2nd March, 2017_

TOPIC: *Dealing With Falsehood*
TEXT: _Deuteronomy 13:1-18_
*KEY VERSE:*
*_”Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul”_* (Deuteronomy 13:3).

God hates falsehood and any attempt to contaminate and adulterate His holy standard. Moses warned the children of Israel against false prophets, false teachers and fake dreamers who might come with new dreams and revelations to divert their minds from the true God. Israelites were warned to guard against listening to any self-acclaimed prophets or anyone else who might get them to worship any other god even when the individuals could be close friends or family members.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye 02 March, 2017

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…
DATE : THURSDAY 2nd MARCH 2017
THEME : THE COMFORTER
Memorise:
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
Read: 2nd Corinthians 1:3-10
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

Daily Manna Devotional by Pastor W.F.Kumuyi 28Feb., 2017

DAILY MANNA

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2017

TOPIC : AN UNRULY TONGUE

TEXT : -PSALM 12:1-8

1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

KEY VERSE:

“They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak” (Psalm 12:2)

MEMORISE:

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: Psalm 66:18

READ: ISAIAH 59:1-4

1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Monday 27 Feb., 2017

  • OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: MONDAY 27 FEBRUARY 2017
THEME: SINCERITY
MEMORISE:
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity. Titus 2:7
READ : 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: GENESIS 24′ ISAIAH 46
MESSAGE:
Insincerity is one of the greatest reasons behind the downfall of many believers today. Some people claim to love God, but the kind of fruit they manifest makes people question the genuineness of their salvation. Loving God is not just by words, it must reflect in all that we do and in our approach to life. The moment we are saved, we should no longer walk as those who are heading for eternal damnation. The word of God must be obeyed in its entirety. There are believers today who cherry-pick the aspects of the Bible they want to obey. This should not be so! After we are saved, it is expected of us to immediately renounce all the hidden things of dishonesty (2 Corinthians 4:2). We cannot afford to be careless in our Christian walk, because we have an adversary (1 Peter 5:8). To be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, we must be sincere with ourselves. One of the things that gave David victory over Goliath was his sincerity. Although King Saul offered David his armour, David was sincere enough to admit that he had never tried that approach (1 Samuel 17:38-39). His sincerity made him stick to his familiar strategy of using smooth stones and a catapult, rather than wasting his time on an untested line of attack that would not produce results.
