Before Breakfast: Matthew 7:22-23 November 30
Before Breakfast: Matthew 7:22-23
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”
Jesus Christ portrayed a scenery of what will unfold on judgement day in these verses for today.
The day of judgement will be a day that will be full of surprises in the sense that, many who had been thought to make the heaven’s citizens ‘merit’ and only list will be denied entry. This is because they have been rated high to make it by man’s standard but will be shocked to know that they fall below the required STANDARD.
It is quite unfortunate that many believers, especially most ministers of the gospel place more focus on WORKING for Christ without WALKING with Him.
Many have even gone to the extent of using diabolical and/or occultic powers to perform ‘miracles’ because of recognition, fame and riches.
Jesus Christ warned that prophesying, casting out demons, performing wonders and even speaking in tongues are not proves of God’s approval or an assuarance of making it to Heaven at the last day; but a genuine walk with Him!
There is even difference between “working for God” and “working in God”.
Doing any work in church without having cordial relationship is mere working for God which may however give one popularity and recognition among brethren and even ministers, but without being in God, you are just a signpost.
God cannot be mocked neither can He be outsmarted
A man may preach good sermons that can ‘melt’ the heart of the worst sinner and yet he himself is a cast-away before God. (1Cor.9:27)
We should be careful not to replace genuine intimate relationship with Christ with religiosity. No matter how active, religious and gifted one may be, are all a waste of time without an upright stand with Him.
The number of years one have been born again and the positions attained in the church/ministry do not guarantee express approval on the judgement day because God is no respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34)
