Before Breakfast: 1Corinthians 11:1
“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
Jesus Christ came to the world in human form to:
(1) Reconcile Man to God by dieing for the remission of our sins. (John 3:16, Eph.2:14-16)
(2) Give a model of a proper Christian living. (1Peter 2:21)
(3) Disciple those who will carry on with the divine assignenment when he would bodily leave the world. This was achieved by commissioning the 11 disciples after His resurrection. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Apostle Paul admonished the corinthians to follow his steps as he also follows the steps of Christ.
This verse is a continuation of chapter 10 where he was encouraging them to learn from the israelites who left the true living God to follow other gods thereby suffering the consequences.
Unfortunately, many Christian will ignorantly miss heaven because of the kind of ‘pastors or leaders’ they follow. (Matt.15:14)
Have you been convinced by the Holy Spirit that that your so called ‘spiritual father’ is a follower of Christ?
Moreover, like Paul said, can we also boldly and sincerely tell people to follow us as we follow Christ. Men can be deceived but surely GOD cannot. (See Gal 6:7)
